beat.net wants to have as much fun and learning as possible (by making as many mistakes as early and often as possible) by putting up/creating a Really High Quality Radio Station (Webcasting) Stream on czfree.net and ...beyond...
when i say Really High Quality Radio Station i *think* that means something in the 128-256kbs range, not something in the multi-Mb/s range that would consume soooooo/toooooo much bandwidth.
the beat.net radio station would be properly Intergram/OSA licensed, that is: totally legal
beat.net wants to try experimenting with multicasting broadcasting technlogy. it is important that we be able to maintain the integrity of our broadcasts (meaning have them be secure from interference/tampering). because multicasting was originally setup as a multi-participant thing (such as multi-site video conferencing) there was little reason for security. we understand this model is known as ASM as in Any Source Multicasting. we want to play/experiment/try/develop SSM as in Single Source Multicasting -- that only allows one authorized source to transmit the multicast stream.
beat.net is interested in playing/trying/experimenting with various audio compression formats like Ogg Vorbis that are open source (as well as free from licensing fees).
beat.net's format will be non-commercial music in the "electronic", "dance" and "chill-out" variety such as intelligent d'n'b, deep house, breaks and other positive groovey tunez like, say, like Radio1 would play On A Good Day. Since this style of music is not everyones "cup of tea", we are willing to share what tools or software we develop for beat.net with the czfree.net community so you can put up your own radio stations playing whatever format You Like
we will use this forum to keep everyone informed of our progress. feel free to chime in at anytime -- we could use all the help we can get...
oh, and if your a DJ or a "bedroom DJ" (who has never played out) with interesting Music To Share it would be great to hear from you also.
